Why You Should Give Up
It’s not worth it…
--
I’m going to be vulnerable for a moment here.
These past few months, I’ve been wanting to give up.
Even though a lot of great things have happened for me and my work, sometimes I still feel a little uncertain and lost.
But one of the most valuable lessons I’ve learned over the years is HOW to give up.
Let me explain.
I often explain my journey of how I left behind a high-paying 9–5 job, the nice sports car and a brand new apartment to go pursue my dreams and then finally achieved it.
While it’s true that I gave all of this up to start the journey, I actually had to give up a lot of small things first in order to get to that point.
Most people think you have to make a crazy dramatic change to have great transformation in your life, but the truth is that it never happens all at once.
I was giving things up little by little.
I started to give up complaining.
Then I started to give up worrying.
Then I started to give up on doubting myself.
Once I started doing these things, it made room for me to be more curious and learn a ton of things that got me to where I’m at today.
You see, the courage to change and commit to what’s most meaningful to you happens in the quietest moments.
You would think the most courageous moments in stories are like the scenes in superhero movies where the epic battles are taking place, but those actually aren’t the courageous moments.
Because by that point of the story, there’s no turning back.
The most courageous moment is when you make the decision to start the journey.
It’s in that quiet moment you decide to begin.
That’s why I have this painting of Mulan on my wall.
